Within the never-ending quest to attract a younger crowd to casinos, MGM Resorts has announced that a nightclub that is former the Luxor in Las Vegas will reopen as an esports arena.
The Luxor is remodeling its now-defunct nightclub LAX into an esports arena. The goal is to pull in a younger demographic, not as enchanted by traditional slot machines as their parents.
The business has entered into a cope with Allied Esports and Esports Arena to build a dedicated venue for gamers at the now closed LAX nightclub. The space that is 30,000-square-foot have a multi-level arena complete with competition stage, LED movie wall, telescopic seating, daily gaming stations, a customized food and beverage offering, and a state-of-the-art streaming and television-quality production studio.
Niklas Rytterstrom, general manager of Luxor, believes that esports is the future and will be one of many more popular features at the Strip hotel, once it is completed in June 2018.
‘Our company is the leader in the entertainment industry and recognizes the growth that is exciting the esports industry,’ he said. ‘ Using this partnership, we will introduce a new experience to the marketplace, once again elevating the city’s vast entertainment offerings.’
